Deal of the Year Awards

HICAP ANZ will honor the companies responsible for the most influential hotel industry deals with the prestigious HICAP ANZ awards. The winners will be announced during the HICAP ANZ conference, which will run from 12-14 August 2020 at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour and the Offices of Ashurst. Nominees for the awards are evaluated based on outstanding business performance in various industry sectors.

Development of the Year

The HICAP Australia New Zealand (HICAP ANZ) Development of the Year Award recognizes a newly built, redeveloped, or repositioned (after significant product renovations and/or enhancements) hotel that opened, reopened, or completed their repositioning in Australia or New Zealand between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020. The nomination deadline is Friday, 4 December 2020.

Transaction of the Year

The HICAP Australia New Zealand (HICAP ANZ) Transaction of the Year Award recognizes a hotel or resort in which more than a 50 percent ownership stake has been acquired (transaction closed) in Australia or New Zealand between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020. The nomination deadline is Friday, 4 December 2020.


HICAP ANZ Achievement Awards

The HICAP ANZ Achievement Awards recognize leaders who have achieved great success and have made game changing contributions to the hotel and tourism industry in the ANZ region. The awards focus on people who have made a difference in the world of hotel ownership/investment while moving away from the concept of honors based on seniority or age.

Formerly known as the First Awards, the HICAP ANZ Achievement Awards were presented in 2019 in two categories; Australia First Award and Global Impact Award.


Bob East The Australia First Award recognizes an individual who is a pioneer in the industry. The honoree represents a leader who has made a unique contribution to hotel management or ownership in Australia, by achieving something unique and special—a feat that is a genuine First.

Olivia Newton-JohnThe Global Impact Award recognizes an individual who has made a positive global impact on the industry. The honoree represents a leader whose business accomplishments and efforts have been impactful to the hotel industry by creating positive international awareness of Australia and its opportunities—success and impact that is genuinely global.
